Marko Mlakar is Managing Partner at Amrop Adria and responsible for Amrop’s business in the Adriatic region with offices in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. He is also a member of the Global Nomination and Governance Committee. He is an experienced management consultant with 20 years of successful executive search experience in the Adriatic region and the wider CEE region. He has conducted more than 700 search assignments across all major industries, with a particular focus on clients in the banking, insurance and private equity sectors. He has assisted numerous private equity clients in their M&A activities by conducting pre-deal human capital due diligence and post-deal placement of critical management roles.

In addition to his role at Amrop, Marko co-founded ION-Advisory, a local M&A boutique. He also co-founded and managed FranklinCovey Adria, the local partner of the global leadership development company FranklinCovey, which specialises in performance improvement. He was also a founder of The Expatriate Club which connected expatriates together while working and living in Slovenia.

Marko holds a degree in Marketing from the Ljubljana School of Economics and a Master's degree in Business Finance from the University of Maribor. He is currently completing a PhD programme in Economics and Business at the Ljubljana School of Economics. He has also participated in executive education programmes at IEDC Bled and IMD Lausanne. Marko is fluent in Slovenian, English and Croatian/Serbian.

In addition to his business acumen, Marko devotes much of his time to the international world of tennis and charity organizations. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and President of the International Lawn Tennis Club of Slovenia. In the period 2010-2018, Marko was Vice President of the Slovenian Tennis Federation, a member of the ITF Women’s Circuit Committee and a member of the Tennis Europe Junior Committee.
